Very limitied applicationAug 17, 2010 I bought this to give my wife peace of mind, and it's good for that.
The deer still ate some of her garden, but I put up some poles, and strung fishing line between them, and that seems to spook the deer away (they can't see it at night).
A friend says Deer Guard has to be put at the height of the deer's ears, and that should be about 3 ft off the ground because they're walking with head down low to eat. I haven't taken down the fishing line, so I don't know if hanging it lower actually works.
Motion sensor is only good for about 30 feet in front of the unit, so we plugged it in and leave it on continuously (at night).
Deer Repeller EvaluationAug 11, 2010 After many years of trying to keep the local & persistant Deer population front eating my Veggy Garden, Flowers and Decorative Bushes and Hedges, I finally decided to try this electric ultrasonic Deer Repeller. It is not all that it is cracked up to be. It sends a stronger signel when plugged into household current with it's convertor than when it is battery run. Even when it does seem initially effective. the Deer seem to get used to it after a few days (it's the same heard that lives around here) and it no longer stops them from helping themselves to my buffet at meal time.
I've already tried several different spray on deterents, and various visual scarry posters and Deer Deterent plantings. So far, nothing really stops them over the long haul. Where I live, hunting is of course not allowed.
I keep hoping that my neighboors will plant stuff that the deers like to eat better then mine!
Bird-X DG Deer GardAug 03, 2010 The so-called deer repeller does NOT work as advertised. It was set up near newly planted shrubs and they totally denuded the plants and ignored the sound.
Deer RepellerJul 28, 2010 The deer repeller worked in protecting a section of daylilies in my garden. The daylilies that were out of range of the device were eaten by the deer. Main fault with this device is that there is no means to set it out in the garden such as a stake or stand.
Something's working. Is it this?Jul 27, 2010 I bought two of these devices on the advice of the owner of a florist who was being raided by deer every night after she closed. She said since she started using these -no more deer. I use mine on the "constant" setting plugged into an electrical outlet. I have not seen one deer on my property since using these but must also advise that I have been simultaneously using Liquid Fence spray so I'm not sure which thing is doing the most.
